(I’m not sure how many people would actually read this, considering its so long and boring, but still, try to read it!)
In case you thought I was like dead or something, and for the sake of the unknowing ones, I was actually in Nippon for the past 6 days. It was a lovely trip of shopping and eating and sleeping and Disneyland, ironically a disaster at Mount Fuji. If I feel like it, I will be going into the details and everything. I'm not sure if I can get the photos to work out, my camera's in a mess without any battery and the charger spoilt. Rather saddening, after all I have gone through all thick and cold with it and I treasure it like my heart-to-heart best friend, and it died just like that. Obviously I was exaggerating. i am in a funny mood now, so bear with me. (= OK the camera thing is working. Yay! No photos for the last few days though. :( So the day started bright and early with at 6am. I went to the airport with my mum, and of course my heavy luggage. It was 15.1kg, but 4 kg lighter than Jovena's. Wu Yue and I wore the same shirt we bought the previous day, at FOX. Quite funny lah, but no one really noticed until we said. Terribly traumatising. =( But it was relatively funny. Daryl went with his orange shirt and waxed hair, a nice change for once. We were all on the highs and happily boarded up the plane, of course feeling all scared we will drop our passports or lose our wallets or something. This is the fear of travelling alone =X (At this stage I am panicking cos I cannot opeb the damned My Computer browser!) Yokoso Japan! We are coming soon! Aboard the JAL plane =) It was a lovely plane trip lasting 6 hours and something, and I was sitting between Sarah and Wu yue. Nice place, because we could play bridge, gossip, and talk. haha. And di had the wonder pills for air sickness, or rather the sour plums. It helped, but at the very last few minutes of the ride, I still puked. About one eighth of the bag they provided. =) Gory details. (At THIS stage, my camera's battery finally died and I can only cry in pain for its death) So on touchdown, we continued on with a LONG LONG LONG bus ride, which made my brain go all stupid and unworkable. I think a lot of people shared my ordeal though. Lake kawaguchi here we come! Tomorrow we will be hiking up you! We will be conquering you! Haha! We had an interesting 10-course meal thingy, which was too much for our bursting stomachs to take. A selected few managed to finish all and even extra bowls of rice. I applaud their hotel room's toilet bowls. Sorry, I told you I was feeling funny. And so we went up to our room complete with tatami and futon. Sandra, Hao Tang, Tian Yuan, and me. Someone snored =) (At this point of time, I became too bored and decided to continue blogging later, when I have completed the mourning for my camera battery) OK I am back. Did you miss me? Haha. I decided I should not blog day by day as everyone is. I shall just point out the main details even though they might not be chronologically linked. So ya. Mount Fuji was probably the most memorable thing of the WHOLE trip. It was incredibly cool, scary yet in a way fun. Cool as in the literal sense. I think we all gained a lot from that whole experience thing, but not exactly bodily experience. It was more of a mental thing because we really had to struggle with our minds to like, continue ahead and battle the cold. And it was really really cold. All people had was a shirt and a jacket over, and I at least had the comfort of a poncho thanks to fishiee. And at times, an umbrella. And my gloves which I had lost. The hike up began well, and everyone was like just jokingly saying they don't want to go on anymore after the first station. But we all went on anyway, and the sky was just playing tricks on us, pouring and pouring on, like there was no tomorrow. And we went on walking, not knowing what would happen to us. Of course, we wish to blame somebody, but all we can blame is nature. We never got to Station 5. A whole big group of us, around 80+ people were huddled in this small hut area, trying to get as much heat as we could, trying to think about happy things. Something that sticks in my mind would be me, Sarah, Jing Zhen, yu Fei and Yun Yuan all huddled together, singing songs, and even sharing biscuits and stuff. The PRCs were really nice, they were like the big sisters at that time, and we could really feel warmth. We managed to board the third van after a long wait, but it didn't matter, because it will now bring us to safety. When we arrived, everything was a blur. I can only remember some guys being real nice, patting our backs, telling people not to cry, drying our hair (which was quite irritating actually), helping us remove our wet clothes (don't think dirty) and everything.
The teachers were great too, they were just so encouraging and everything. Miss Toh was like just smiling at everyone and I felt calm just looking at them.
Lunch was warm and a relief, we were just putting our hands above the heat, trying to get out hands to regain their sense of touch.
At that time, I really missed a lot of things. I thought we might never get to see the Sun again, so I cried. But I didn’t cry as much as others, because I wasn’t that overwhelmed. Or maybe it was because I was too cold.
I missed my house, I missed good old HOT Singapore, I missed my bed complete with blankets, I missed my friends, I missed shopping, I missed food, everything.
It was such a horrible yet enriching experience.
The trip back to the hotel was just an endless sleep. I sat on my hands to make them warm, and slept well. We were too tired to climb the steep slope up, so we took vans up. At the hotel (Seigaku Hotel), many people went to the hot spring, but I somehow just laid there doing nothing at all. LOL. But I think I went to the convenience store, where I bought titbits and stuff.
At night was Iki Mashyo. Nobody really thought we would be able to enjoy it, after all the ordeal, but we were WRONG. It was so fun! V12 did their para para thing first, with Rachel straight in the middle! Hehe. A good laugh.
Short but sweet.
Then it was V14’s turn. They played some stuff using the violin and had some dance, can’t really remember properly.
Then it was our turn! It was great I tell you. From the point where Sarah and I said konbanwa minna-san, the judges were already cheering for us! And Daryl was really funny as an emcee. “Is it over? Is it really over?” The schoolgirls came first, followed by Sadako, Ninjas, Sumos, Food, Geishas. Not sure if I got the order correct, but everyone loved them all! Especially the Sadakos. They were funny. There were technical errors here and there, but it was fine.
And guess what?
We won ourselves a $150 Haagen Daz voucher! Whee, ice cream outing everyone!!
V11 rocks forever (:
V13 went next, with their drama sort of thing. They claimed second, which was a $100 Gelare voucher. Congrats to them too.
And so the night ended with all the fun and excitement, and I finally went to the onsen. It was some hot experience! It had only Ruiqi and me in it, kinda embarrassing, but still fun!
That day was the most enriching day I suppose.
(Too lazy to continue. Please bear with me)
